GovTool September 2026 Update: 2.1 Alpha Release

September brought the first release under GovTool’s new maintainership: v2.1.0-alpha.1, published on 18 September 2026. It’s an early step toward the GovTool roadmap.

What’s in the release

• A new TypeScript backend, in alpha. It offers an opt-in path with API parity. The existing backend remains the default while the new one is tested and refined.
• Linked surveys for governance actions. This adds support for CIP-179 surveys connected to governance activity.
• GovTool improvements. The release restores random sorting with pagination in the DRep Directory, refines Live Voting filters, and fixes several navigation and validation issues.
• Security and reliability fixes. The team strengthened metadata URL validation, closed a database connection leak, and updated dependencies.
• Easier local development. A Docker Compose setup and improved contributor instructions make it simpler to run and work on GovTool locally.
